Located in Table Bay, Robben Island is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with deep historical significance. This low-lying island served as a maximum-security prison for political prisoners, most notably Nelson Mandela, who was imprisoned here for 18 of his 27 years.

Take a guided tour led by former political prisoners to see the prison yard and Mandela's tiny cell. The tour includes a bus ride around the island, visiting the lime quarry where prisoners worked and the historic lighthouse.

Situated in Simon's Town, Boulders Beach is a sheltered sandy cove surrounded by massive granite boulders. It is famous globally as the home of a breeding colony of over 2,000 wild African Penguins, which nesting along the white sand.

Walk along the raised wooden boardwalks at Foxy Beach to observe the penguins nesting, swimming, and waddling onto the sand from up close. At Boulders Beach itself, you can pay a park entry fee to swim in the calm ocean water next to the penguins.

Located within the Table Mountain National Park, Cape Point is a dramatic, rocky promontory that marks the southwestern tip of the African continent. This wild coast features towering sea cliffs, deep bays, and historic lighthouses.

Take the Flying Dutchman Funicular up the steep hillside to the historic lighthouse built in 1860, which offers dramatic ocean views. Be sure to hike down the wooden path to the rocky beach at the Cape of Good Hope.
